Description
2013 Blecua Somontano
Blecua is a red wine from the Somontano region produced by the Viñas del Vero winery. This wine is a blend of Garnancha, Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The grapes used to make Bleuca are carefully selected from 7 of the best vineyard that the winery owns. They are located in various parts of Somontano, on slopes that are exposed to sunlight. The havest is done entirely by hand. After selection at the vineyard, clusters are examined by hand to ensure that only the best bunches are selected.
Finally, after a separate fermentation in large French oak casts, the wines are aged in four different types of new French oak barrels. After this after the ageing proccess, the best barrels of wine are selected for the final blend, which is then aged for another 8 months.
Blecua is then bottled without being filtered nor stabilized.
Viñas del Vero in a winery that has been in the Aragon region of Somontano sine it was established back in 1986, when they acquired 550 hectares of land in the area. The winery now is home to 250 stainless Steel tanks and 8,000 barrels of American and French oak.
